Five wolves

In the end of 80’s and the beginning of 90’s of last century, there were a large number of young artists from all over the country gathering in the villages around Yuan Ming Yuan relics in Beijing. They gave up their registered permanent residences and the steady jobs in Government, believing in freedom and living here as exiles. This is Yuan Ming Yuan Artist Village.
In August 1994, five young artists from Guizhou came here and established the only artist group in Yuan Ming Yuan Artist Village called “Wu Pi Studio”, while the others were calling them “Wu Pi Lang”, meaning “Five Wolves”, as a joke.
At the end of 1995, as Yuan Ming Yuan Artist Village was dispelled by the police, each of the “wolf” goes his own way … …

1969. Born in Xiuwen, Guizhou province, China
1994. BA (Painting), Fine Arts Department, Guizhou Normal University, Guizhou, China
Work on contemporary art in Beijing.
