Phubbing

How to escape from a technological Utopia world while still holding on to a sense of humanity? The short film 'Phubbing' is set in a world where the government controls society and brainwashes civilians by planting QR codes on them. Those who have QR codes lose their self-awareness and only receive government approved communication. However, a group of "infidels" (people who have not succumbed to control) are projected as reactionaries which the government wants to eliminate. One infidel woman witnesses another her friend being captured in the park.

Director Statement

“Phubbing”这部微电影的中文名原意是“低头族”的意思。短片的设定背景是，当人类的生活被高科技取而代之，人与人之间失去情感交流的时候（就像我们现在面对面也会玩手机一样），那么剩下那部分不愿沦为科技奴隶的人该何去何从？起初在国外的时候，觉得这只是一个“稳中求胜”的SI-Fi题材，觉得如果在未来，想认识和了解一个人，不再靠认识彼此的这张脸（天呢想想再也不用看脸活着也是蛮开心的），而是通过一个二维码去认识这个人的资料和生平事迹，就像一个科技产品般行尸走肉的活着会怎么样？
但耐人寻味的是，这番感触在回到国内之后更加深刻。生活在出门不带现金的改革新时代，放眼望去满大街随处可见的支付宝、微信二维码，脑洞大开不禁寻思，电影里的情节会不会已经慢慢的将活在信息和数据时代的我们侵蚀。三思之后，觉得鄙人虽然技艺未精，但是此番应景的题材让我忍不住想将此条拙劣的短片拿出来和大家分享。最后，感谢您的观赏。
