Sloan Luckie, a Big Apple Film Festival Semi-Finalist for Journey to the Jacksons© , was born in the Bronx, New York. He attended Music & Art High School where he was trumpet soloist in the Music & Art and the New York City All-City High School Orchestras. He attained his BSBA in accounting (with honors) from the University of Hartford, MBA in Finance from the NYU Stern School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant. He’s spent most of his career working in the financial industry.
Sloan, who is a cancer-survivor and has a passion for writing and wellness, has written two books.
He is the author of Journey to the Jacksons: A Mother’s Bold & Extraordinary Actions To Make Her Child’s Seemingly Impossible Dreams Come True. He possesses original photos and home video of the unforgettable and unique experience his family had with Michael Jackson and the world-famous Jackson 5. In this true and timeless inspirational story Sloan’s mother, Sodonia Luckie, a single mother of two, loads her children (Colette and Sloan “Googie” Luckie) on a Greyhound bus and takes a daring cross-country journey from New York City to Los Angeles to pursue her daughter’s seemingly impossible dream of meeting her teen idols-Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. Sloan Luckie, who is also a Certified Personal Trainer, Specialist in Fitness Nutrition and Specialist in Sports Strength and Conditioning, is the author of the inspirational optimal health workbook, Body Under Construction: How To Build and Maintain Optimal Health at Any Age. Body Under Construction teaches women and men how to use nutrition, exercise, and sleep to attain and maintain optimal health and reduce risk to chronic illness.
Sloan’s unique philosophy on building and maintaining optimal health has garnered significant media attention. He has appeared on NBC’s “The Talk” with Marion Brooks, NY1 News with Cheryl Wills, WVON Radio with Kendall Moore and graced the pages of Syd Jerome, Men’s Health, Golf, Flex and Muscle & Fitness magazine. He’s also featured in a national TV ad for Kimberly Clark/Depend. He’s conducted wellness demonstrations for women's heart disease, men's prostate and childhood obesity awareness seminars. Sloan has also conducted nutrition and fitness demonstrations for corporations and not-for-profit organizations throughout the United States.
Sloan is 52 years old and lives in Matteson, IL with his wife Sherree. They have three children, Chanel-26, Sloan II-15, Sterling-12, granddaughter Peyton-5 and granddaughter Parker-1.
I wrote the Journey to the Jacksons screenplay to give hope in a world that has become increasingly filled with hopelessness, inspire millions to believe in the seemingly impossible and pay tribute to the courage and determination of women.
