Alongside dependent elderly people.

The production of this audiovisual is based on the results of a scientific study that, under the title "Good practices in home care for dependent elderly people", was carried out by professionals committed to their work and to the people they care for. It is a qualitative study developed in several health areas of the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands).The main goal of this study was to understand from the actors involved in this experience the meaning of good practice.The data collection tecniche were individual and group interviews with dependent elderly people, family caregivers, and health care professionals and home help services.

In this shortfilm, we have tried to show the most significative results based on the interviews, where the participants have told us, among other things, that taking good care of a dependent elderly person is to encourage their autonomy, integrate them into family life, accompanying them, treating them with humanity, affection, love, respect, patience, humour, etc. They also talked a lot about the hardness of caring and of being cared for.

The objective of this audiovisual, in addition to the dissemination of results, is that it can be used as a tool for the training of professionals and the awareness of the society about the meaning of caring at home of elderly people who are dependant.
