Valerie is a freelance writer and cartographer with a BS in geography from Pennsylvania State University. Her first foray into the film world was assisting her brother-in-law do special effects for historical productions. A novelist at heart, she was encouraged by a friend to modify a short story into a script. This proved to be interesting and led to bringing The Tracker to life. She looks forward to penning more scripts that feature women making their way through a world that is by turns baffling, humorous, and hurtful. She just completed her latest novel “Evermore”. When she is not writing, she enjoys hand crafting jewelry, and reproducing period leather work.
The story of The Tracker grew out of a conversation I had about people who bail on relationships. Later I thought, wouldn't it be funny to write a story about a tracker hired by women to find the men who have bailed on them. And wouldn't it be even funnier if this tracker was a woman of unusual personality and ability? The premise is both silly and serious, much like AJ herself, and at its simplest, the story is about one woman helping another recover her strength and dignity. Along the way, the two forge an unexpected friendship. Not intended to be dramatic or explosive, The Tracker shows how women can and do relate to the world and to each other with kindness and humor.
