Hi, I'm John MacDonald Jr. I'm filmmaker from central PA that graduated from Edinboro University in May 2018. Through the years I've gained recognition through multiple awards and even an appearance on national TV.
Through high school I did video projects for clubs, such as competing in Future Business Leaders of America's state-level competitions and creating promotional videos for the FFA's local hunger awareness campaigns.
I started my college career in August of 2014 at Edinboro University, enrolling in their Applied Media Arts program with a concentration in Film/Video Production. Through the program I learned key aspects of production, as well as exploring photography, computer animation, graphic design, and motion graphics.
In the summer of 2016 I was hired as an intern at JPL Creative, a production company in Harrisburg, PA. That entire summer was full of amazing hands on experience with all aspects of production and even live events. The other interns and I were also tasked with creating a video for a local non-profit. That got us involved in the entire process of production, from pre-prod. meetings to editing and encoding at the end. The knowledge gained from this experience is invaluable.
One of the most exciting pieces I got to work on at Edinboro was the promo video for the Art Department. During the entire Spring 2017 semester, I directed and worked with an editor and two directors of photography to produce a video that would show the Art Department as we saw it: a place where anyone can come to create, learn, and share. The entire school was astounded with what we created, and the video became the second most viewed video on an Edinboro YouTube account in record time.
By the time I graduated from Edinboro University I had participated in six of the school's film festival, and took home either a gold or silver award at three of them. I also was awarded a showing at the annual Gmitter Scholarship Artist Show at Edinboro's Bruce Gallery, and a place in the Erie Art Museum's "Chimera" show, where the best of Edinboro's seniors art is shown.
