Jack's Chair
Jack’s Chair attempts to bring the complexity of mental health to the forefront and portray the devastating consequences it can carry from childhood to adulthood. The film tells the tragic tale of an adult male living in a severe state of psychosis.
Jack and his mother were severely abused both emotionally and physically by a man named Billy. Maria Jacks mother was killed during an altercation between her and Billy. Jack now finds himself in a maze of repressed guilt, pain and blames himself for his mother’s passing. Billy is the face of cruelty and evil that has destroyed Jack's life. Now as an adult, Jack's psychotic condition is unraveling. He is unable to understand what is happening to him.
The film picks up with our main character Jack who is now an adult. His life is unraveling and he is no longer able to separate the line between reality and fantasy. In his distorted reality he forms a contorted image of two men, a deceased Father of which he can not remember and Billy a companion to his mother. Maria (Jack's Mother) is an authentic, caring woman who was entrapped in a spiral of violence and unable to muster the strength to break away from the grip of Billy. Jack’s pain and images of his childhood resurface springing him into unknown territory.
He is alone and isolated but manages to find the strength to seek help from a caring psychiatrist who briefly treated him when he was a small boy. Jack seeks retribution for the death of his beloved Mother but can he unhinge himself from the severe level of psychosis which is leading him into unknown ground.
