Land-on, UKan

"Land-on, UKan" is an urban symphony about arriving in London, a city with two clear angles.
The first impression of a cold and rushing scenery in constant change put in contrast with the daily and real life of the Londoners in a winter season. A multicultural and open-minded city full of heritage and history. A mix of perspectives conveying with one and other between noise and silence, buildings and flora & fauna, local and foreigner.
A new vision made to break the barriers of the common and well-known touristic merchandising viewpoints, showing the reality of landing in London and experiencing it.

Director Biography - Sofia Mellino

Sofia Mellino is a multi-awarded video artist from Argentina. Specialised in Audiovision (UNLa) and with a postgraduate degree in film editing (LFS), among other courses and research residencies in Germany, France and UK on new digital formats and their consequences on post-production workflows.

At only 30 years old, she has won five international awards, three project funding programmes and the recognition of the “94 Argentinean Women Visual Artists 2021”. Also known as "the artist of Urban Symphonies" for taking this undervalued film sub-genre and re-signifying it today in, what she conceives as, "the era of re-invention"; in works such as "Land-on, UKan" (2017), "URBANÚS; La Sinfonía Urbana de Lanús" (2018), and "FUTURE RUHR" (2022), the first fulldome film created entirely with 360 camera recordings attached on drones, with intense post-production on the original material.

Her works are characterised by her own style of audiovisual editing where the equal power of the sound-image fusion prevails, and that what is sought to be told can contribute value to society; such as in "malambE" (2021). The project is currently building cooperation and exchange of artists, ideas and projects of Art, Science and Technology between Argentina and Germany (NRW).
