Purple

Purple is a Visual Album created for Croydon based musician, Kieran Martin. The film explores issues around mental illness particularly those faced by young men, and offers an insight into the unspoken and unresolved. Purple follows Kieran, subtitled, and diagnosed with depression in a seemingly linear narrative of his day-to-day life. However, it is frequently interrupted by abstract, and often dreamlike sequences, where light and shadow interplay to bring a depth of meaning to Kieran’s ambient production and arresting vocals. Whilst the audience follows Kieran as he fluctuates between reality and the imaginary he is faced with a choice, to speak about his issues in search of a resolution, or to follow the repetitive male pattern of remaining silent.
