Creme Noir - Part II
"This is fascinating material - in its very obscurity, much life…"
Joyce Carol Oates
MOLOLO is a series of open air performances including poetry, street theater, music and dance, which takes place on Molo in Sopot, Poland during the summer season ("quick theater by the fountain").
In 2016 shows under the title of "Creme Noir" (French: black cream) were inspired by the acclaimed American writer - Joyce Carol Oates. With the approval from the author we selected 13 poems from her first three volumes published 1969-73 (“Anonymous Sins & Other Poems”, “Love and Its Derangements: Poems” and “Angel Fire: Poems”) and arranged them into a story.
These performances were recorded for the film, which is rather a new artistic expression than a documentary of events.
Crème Noir means the black cream.
This is the second episode from the street triptych about a sophisticated feminine world. The main character begins a multidimensional, metaphorical journey from maturity (Part I) through childhood and adolescence (Part II) to the beginnings of her parents’ relationship (Part III).
She tries to build the conscience of woman's nature. But during this trip she finds codes hard to decrypt, habits hard to break and wounds that heal over shallow and with suffering – all inside of her. Broken relationships, abuse, low self-esteem, solitude, helplessness. Deliberately or not, during the whole life she’s been putting on the black cream.
It’s dark and raw. At first it looks like a feature film, however the uninhibited background and a modest, or even crude, production suggest a documentary. With the whole action (music, dance, only spoken lyrics) at only one venue - maybe a bizarre street musical?
A quaint cinematic experience.

Since March 2013 he has been working with The Rondo Theater Center in Słupsk.
"The searching for feminine power is nothing new in art, but this performance is so special, because it happens in the public place. The link with something primal in woman's womb, head and soul is weakened and trivialized by the contemporary civilization. So shall she find her self-confidence? Shall she scrub the black cream off herself? Is her journey giving any hope?
You've got to judge it on your own."
