Director, editor and producer Ephraim Morgen is a filmmaker who aspired to be a director of films from an early age. The 22 year old began his filming career in the year of 2013 where he started his own production company called KrownMedia alongside two others. The company was started whilst he was in the first year of Birmingham City University studying Media and Communications and after a series of urban freestyles, music videos, event coverage, commercials and adverts, the channel currently holds over 12,000 subscribers and a viewership of over 4 million views. In 2017, Ephraim Morgen began working for a wedding cinematography company after his graduation and soon landed the role of “Head Cinematographer” where he incorporated creative capture for cinematic highlights and show reels for weddings. SWITCH is a short film that interweaves several stories about domestic abuse, drug abuse, gang violence and many more issues through a group counselling session. This multi-narrative structure is also a signature for the director and is evident through his debut.
I made this film because I felt there was a duty for me as a filmmaker to put a light on the many issues that many may see or experience daily. Whether that is domestic abuse/violence, drug addiction, gang violence, depression, anxiety or many other issues. I believe that as a community, it is our responsibility to support and protect each other from the negative issues that surround us.
