Zhaxi's Family

Zhanxi's Family is an observational documentary which follows a Tibetan family who live on the plains in Ganan, China. Zhanxi, the son, is caught between two worlds and generations, his and his fathers. His father is a religiously traditional man whereas Zhaxi likes the fast lane, business and computer games. The father would like him to stay on the land to tend the herds. Zhaxi wants to leave. The conflict that ensues in on going and not resolved, leaving both father and son to reflect upon each others desires and dreams. It is also a reflection on the generational struggle all over China today.
Living with the family for a year I was able to document the process over four seasons, sharing their life in the tent.
