He’s always looking for opportunities to collaborate with talented creative artists on projects like Baby Making Time, and he is okay at pinball.

Director Statement

We place great importance on how things began. History. Provenance. Origin stories. Most of the time, we want to know where something came from, especially people. In the vast majority of cases of where people came from, a bit of semen found it’s way into a vagina somewhere and lo; life began. The noblest, most powerful, and important of us throughout history began in this sticky and embarrassing way.

All the great religions of the world probably started as desperate ploys to make our origins and reasons for existing more majestic and meaningful than they actually are; to mask the slapstick comedy of our origin story. This is probably why nuns are not allowed to have sex.

If sex is weird and hilarious when it’s a product of hormones and instinct, then it’s even funnier when it’s carefully scheduled and technically executed according to a plan. When you have to discuss it in offices. When it’s not for fun but a higher purpose. What I liked about Mersiha’s web series idea and scripts were the universality of the subject - pretty much everyone has been involved in sexual reproduction at one time or another; either by being the product of it, or in a panic from unintentional pregnancy, or faced with the mixed bag of stress in not being successful. Derek and Gina’s adventure is one that a lot of people will identify with.
