It’s an age where men and women happily seek out dates with perfect strangers while completely accepting that physical attraction will be the only starting point.
That’s not to suggest that incentives for dating have ever been very lofty, but it’s interesting to me that apps like Tinder have ceased to offer even the pretense of compatibility or common ground. Attraction reigns supreme, and the law of the land is enacted at the speed of a swipe.
Sunshine is first and foremost an entertaining comedy, but it is also a satirical take on the perils of dating in an attraction-based model. When you pick your person based on looks alone, you just don’t know what you’re going to get...
