Tongue

Ana is in her thirties and unable to share physical intimacy. She has recently started dating and feels increasingly anxious. Her therapist, who is also dealing with her own personal issues, incites Ana to overcome her fears and experience pleasure. As their stories intertwine, unexpected challenges emerge.

Director Biography - Adriana Martins da Silva

Adriana Martins da Silva was born in Portugal in 1983. She has a degree in Astrophysics and is currently living in New Zealand.

Adriana initially studied filmmaking at the London Film Academy and afterwards, at Insituto Restart in Portugal. In 2014, Adriana was awarded the “Film and Video Emerging Youth Award” by her home town of Setúbal.

Her work is based on the feminine and on the exploration of the emotional boundaries of human relationships.

“Tongue” is the second film of a trilogy initiated with her graduation short, “The smell of candles”. The latter was distinguished with three awards in Portugal such as a first fiction prize (2013 FARCUME Festival), Best Portuguese Short Film (2013 FIKE Festival) and Best Actress in a Portuguese Short (Cineuphoria 2014). It has since been screened in several film festivals around the world.
