Director Biography - Josh Rimmer

I've been making my own little films for over seven years now, my first ever submission to a film festival being Raindance 2017 with a film called "The Sound of Silence". The film itself was...... well....... okay, so the fact it didn't get in wasn't the biggest surprise in the world but we live and learn (that's the reason why I still count myself as a first time filmmaker seeing as I have no professional credits to my name). I love to shoot in black and white and I love trying to create visual shots that flow; if I can get away with it in a slow tracking shot, I will. I've worked with big crews, small crews, no crews, money, no money, whatever possible to get the story across. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The more I've filmed the more I've been able to see what I can do and more importantly what I can't do, what works and what doesn't. I'm proud of what I have achieved, and hopefully this project can allow me to continue to grow as a filmmaker.

Director Statement

This film was shot over a single weekend in my home county of Norfolk with mostly just two people at most working as crew members at any one time with equipment that was either begged, borrowed or handcrafted. With more or less no money (all of which went on the music used in the film), limited time and resources, what we have achieved is something we're all very proud of and hopefully something others can enjoy and maybe even give those involved a start in the industry.
