Be a good animal
‘Be a good animal’ is a new recycled edit of “Goodbye Mother Earth', 2017.
The work abandons direct representation by delving beyond the surface of both image and sound to disrupt the cross talk in the brain between thought and perception.
The process is a physical one; the camera and play, thought may exist initially but lapses in favor for a physicality that awakens my perception. The present moment and its variables; accidents, pleasures, likes, dislikes, all merge as exposure and eventual editing unfold an image and a sound.
The camera allows me to stop my common routine and venture into unknown time and space, one that is different from my conventional everyday. There are repetitive aspects but on close examination each one is different, fractionally separate from the last. Looking in this manner ignites awareness as wholeness, uninterrupted by the minds chatter and patterns of thought.
I am distancing myself from the past and future projections to be in the moment, aware, awake and alive.
