Konstantina Papadopoulou was born in 1992 at Alexandroupoli. She is a senior student of the School of Film Studies of the Fine Arts A.U.TH and she is involved both with direction and dance. She has taken part in many short films due to the school she was attending, like the film series “Life in my University” (2012-2013) and she has assumed responsibilities like a casting director for the animation web series Linear Tales (2014-2015). She took part at the short films’ competition section at the Athens International film Festival Opening Nights and the Naoussa International Film Festival with the short film “Assembly” (2014), from which she received the audience’s award.
Inspired by George Henry Smith’s story “Imagicon” and his central idea for the existence of two worlds- a fantasy and a real one, iCon, our film, came to life. The more we were working on this project, the more we integrated our beliefs and concerns, so it became something totally new. My generation -at least in Greece- grew up between two worlds. The old one, analog and rural and the new one, technological and digital. Growing up in this transitional period, we fought, and still fight, between the sweet memory of the past and the persistence to walk side by side with the future. When change over time is so radical, it is very hard to find the right balance. It was this speculation that armed us with the passion and excitement to create this story. We tried to approach it with respect, without judging it. After all, there is always the fear that we see ourselves inside the main character. Does living an experience through fantasy – either via a dream, a good book, cinema or a virtual reality game- stop it from being real?
