We Are Not Coming Back
Set at the end of the world, 7 elite people choose to be part of a dinner celebration, where in one extraordinary attraction takes place. My film is a mix of theatre and film and hence belongs to an absurd realm of storytelling. There are two plots to this fantasy drama. The subplot unravels the flimsiness of human relations and how convenience for oneself plays a huge role in forming relationships. This is done through a group of 7 elite youngsters at an exquisite dining table. The major plot talks about the agitation that occurs when in this already bizarre setting, an ‘impossible’ attraction takes place between a lady and a man. The end of the film triggers the agitation of the choice that needs to be made between accepting one’s fate graciously or blindly clinging onto anything, or anybody.

I am a film graduate from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and I currently Freelance as a Filmmaker and Writer in Bangalore, India. I am also experimenting with contemporary movement and improvisation. What defines me however is that, I am a lover of words, of the art of theatre and of the power of an image. In film, I believe in making an atmosphere rather than building a whole narrative. Caught amongst the burdens of life, most of us forget to connect with ourselves and get lost along the way. That is why, the intention of my work is to make people understand and talk about less 'open' but prevalent emotions, for example, jealousy, greed, confusion, unfulfillment. Once we do understand them, then we can perhaps respect eachother more and evolve above the petty fights of daily life.
For me, the concentration of this project lies in the combination of music, cinema and theatre. I am a lover of words, of the art of theatre and of the power of an image. I wanted to combine these passions and follow the cinema which tries to deal with denser ways of expression. I believe in making an atmosphere rather than building a whole narrative in film. Thus for me, the music, my relationship with the actors, the art direction were key concentrations for my film. This is what I want to do further on as well. Theatre for me is much more about what happens backstage that brings together what happens on stage. Thus, the process of making this film has been extremely rich emotionally. I am satisfied. I like to feel and this film is also only meant to make one feel. That’s all.
