Director Biography - Ryan Hendrick

Ryan is a multi-award winning and BAFTA Nominated film director and actor. Credits include Choices, Minds of Glass, Besieged, Falling & Perfect Strangers. He is also a skilled editor and camera operator in the field of Video Journalism and Corporate Video Production.

From as little as seven years old Ryan became fascinated by the creativity of film, starting with small writing projects he continued to develop his ability in screen writing until the age of fifteen when he made his first amateur film with friends and family, that amateur film was later remade as a no budget feature film, although still very much an amateur film maker, Ryan aspired to build up his skill to where he is now currently an Independent Film Maker.

In 2005 Ryan turned to talents in front of the camera, training for two years in Acting & Performance primarily at Stow College, then furthering that training with an Acting for Camera course taught by industry professionals such as Kahleen Crawford and Robert Carlyle.

Ryan gained agent representation as a result of his short film Choices, in which he directed and starred in alongside renowned actress Fletcher Mathers.

Most recently Ryan's festive short film Perfect Strangers screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 as well as a number of festivals around the world, including a BAFTA Nomination for Best Actress Clare Sheerin.

Currently Ryan is preparing to direct his debut feature film Journey Bound starring Clare Grogan, Ford Kiernan and Sylvester McCoy.

Director Statement

Sundown is a story about how a person’s perception on life can change once they except their own mortality. We go through life fearing death for the
longest time, yet it becomes an inherent subconscious thought as it seems such a long way away. So when we reach a point in our lives when death looms, you can either ignore it and die afraid, or embrace your mortality and begin to live life not afraid of it coming to an end. Live in the moment.

The goal of this short film is to explore these ideas and try to give a subjective view from the perspective of our two characters and of course inject some of my own thoughts and feelings on the subject.
