The Bridge

Three injured soldiers and two red cross nurses are in a fight against time to escape enemy territory to the safety of a nearby field hospital. The only thing stopping them is a precarious river, too wide to cross. The two nurses Kitty and Mary know of a bridge not too far away that may be their only way out. They reach the bridge only to find one guard pacing the perimeter of the entrance. As they count his steps away from the entrance, they decide to wait for the cover of dusk to make their calculated escape across the bridge. While they wait one of the soldiers, Charlie, tells the group a fantastical story, ‘The Greatest Love Story Ever Told’ in order to keep their spirits up. As the five are
swept away into a magical and strangely comical tale of love, loss and mechanical engineering, their world of blood and war dissolves into a colourful landscape that eventually collides with reality
