Director Biography - Carl Joglar

Carl is a screenwriter/author who has delved into many genres. His very first attempt at a screenplay, which was an action/fantasy story, placed in a predominantly drama-driven contest.

Carl was co-founder and art director of the New York based writer’s organization Agony Productions, where his writing caught the attention of L.A. based filmmakers, which quickly lead to his participation in the AMC (American Movie Classics) film project, Short Screamers Hosted by John Carpenter, where his script “The Witching Hour” was featured on national television. After winning Best Horror Screenplay at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival with a creature feature script titled Ocura, Carl sold several scripts, including a supernatural thriller titled Shiver for Ground Zero Entertainment. The production was listed in the Project Highlights section of the Hollywood Reporter. His work has garnered praise and interest from the likes of Warren Zide of Zide/Perry Entertainment (American Pie, Final Destination) and producer Moctesuma Esparza (Selena, Gods and Generals, The Milagro-Beanfield War).

Carl then served as Story Editor on the independent comedy/ drama, Harlem Hostel, starring Ramon Rodriguez (Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Battle: Los Angeles) which was released in theaters and is now available on DVD through Maya Entertainment.

Carl's contemporary sci-fi novel, THE PERILS OF QUAD, has continued to receive favorable reviews from the likes of New York's Urban Latino Magazine and Marvel/DC comic artist/creator Bob McLeod to Book Critic Charlene Hirschi whose review appeared in The Herald Journal. Carl was interviewed on Utah’s 97.1 KZHT Morning Zoo Radio Show to discuss his screenwriting career and promote his novel. More recently, Carl was commissioned to write a military action/adventure screenplay titled, S.P.E.C.T.R.E for Candlelight Media Group, completed a grind house horror film titled Wendigo Carnage for Centerstar, and is currently writing the upcoming adventure/fantasy film, GLOOM. In addition, Carl has been a guest speaker at Broadview University and the Comic-Con and FanXperience in Salt Lake City, Utah. He can be reached at carl_joglar@hotmail.com
