Handshakes
It is said that the origin of the handshake etiquette is to show others that no weapon in one’s hand. When visiting the Korean War Museum in Seoul in 2015, a statue was seen showing a soldier carrying a gun and looking up at the flag. I had a sudden whim to walk over and hold out my right hand to make a handshake with the soldier. Soldiers are often seen as part of the national war machine, and at the moment I shook hands with him, I felt like that he was just an ordinary brother.
If a firm handshake can extinguish the hostility in the hands, let it happen.
