Experiencing Interruptions?

Goodbye Reggie June

I used to live in my 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon, affectionately named "Reggie June" in San Diego, California. After an exciting and exhausting period of van life I decided I liked walls and indoor plumbing. I posted a YouTube video to sell Reggie June (which got both love and hate comments) in the hopes that someone would likewise take good care of her.

What I last expected was my father in South Carolina with whom I hadn't spoken in a while, contacting me to tell me he wanted to purchase my van to take my 9 year old nephew on the trip of a lifetime across the country.

I was somewhat afraid they might not make it on their own given my father's short attention span and inability to keep track of things like keys. Out of a sense of adventure, a maternal instinct with my nephew and a desire to reconnect with my father, I decided to join them on a journey across the country with Reggie June.

Without air conditioning or much of a plan, we sweat a lot, laughed a lot and realized just how much we loved each other no matter how hard things got.

Filmed on an iPhone 6, this short is a compilation of home videos that were documented and posted to YouTube throughout the trip so people could follow along with us the entire journey.

After many years on the west coast, Reggie June now resides back east in the small town of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, the ending spot of our road trip.

Just before saying goodbye to her, Reggie June gave me the trip of a lifetime.
