I'm a queer mixed race singer/songwriter & filmmaker from Camden Town, London. Please allow me to introduce you to my debut supernatural film short How To Summon She Devils, an experimental identity exploring comic-noir written, directed, shot and edited by myself, with Gozra Lozano as co-creative director and Issy Bricknall as chief assistant with Carlito Mogg on BTS duty. Starring Solariss Ade as legendary voodoo queen of New Orleans ‘Marie Laveau’ and Deanne Lulalee as the mythical ‘Lilith‘ Whore of Babylon, the story follows a mortal woman ‘Rosa’, a never has been musician with a history of mental illness who summons up She Devils while grieving her murdered daughter. The film soundtrack She Devils was written by myself and produced by Howie & Simone Austwick.
How to Summon She Devils is a tiny taster for the album and film project I’ve written She Devils: A Rock N Roll Gothic which is a semi-musical thriller/horror. Shooting She Devils has been a huge learning curve as a guerrilla filmmaker with zero budget so please allow for any blood lost in the finer details by perhaps recalling the first time you lost your virginity. It was shot spontaneously in a few hours before sunset over 2 days with limited time, light and location options but I think I weaved stars out of cobwebs all the same. The basis for She Devils is inspired by both real and imaginary heroines throughout history who have rebelled, having been cast as dangerously unruly women. As a woman of colour affected by mental health and chronic illness I wanted to explore ways of unleashing my dissociative thinking by tapping into the mindset of She Devils from Myth & History. Join me but be careful what you wish for...
Old enough to know better, Rock N Roll enough not too care
