SYNOPSIS:
CONSCIOUS: Fulfilling our Higher Evolutionary Potential
Inspired by the work of Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa, the film addresses humanity’s potential to achieve a higher level of consciousness in this time of global crises. It features interviews with renowned thinkers including Stanislav Grof, Brian Thomas Swimme, Michael Murphy, and more. The film is enriched by beautiful imagery and music, and discusses cosmology, the evolution of consciousness, and the roles of love and art as vehicles for a deeper human potential. The world is preparing for a big change, will you help?
A film by Alan Baiss & Joseh Garcia
Alan Baiss
is the founder of Integral Inspirations and the producer of three films.
Alan graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Integral Counseling Psychology. He pursued a good career in psychotherapy for many years before the death of his parents and a close friend within a year lead him to contemplate what else might be possible and to create space in his life for something new. This is when he closed his practice and began producing documentary films.
His earlier film, Integral Consciousness: Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga and how Haridas Chaudhuri brought it to the West, has become a reference for the history of Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga and the California Institute of Integral Studies.
After two trips to India, and countless hours of organising profoundly fascinating interviews, the most recent film, Conscious: Fulfilling our Higher Evolutionary Potential (2017), is a natural continuation of his devotion to the inquiry into humanity's profound evolutionary potential.
Joseh Garcia
is a filmmaker, musician, and writer.
He worked as a psychotherapist in Brazil and maintains an active music career. He has held concerts in France, Canada, the United States, and Brazil, and has worked in cooperation with leading artists, such as Grammy nominated Silvia Nakkach. In 2011 he released the EP Bossa a Trois produced by France’s Daniel Masson (Buddha-Bar). He has also ventured into the field of literature. In 2016, he published a psychological novel in Portuguese (A Mulher que Nunca Recebeu Flores) and he frequently writes articles for blogs.
Joseh’s involvement with Conscious: Fulfilling our Higher Evolutionary Potential is a natural extension of his long-time interest in consciousness studies. After obtaining his B.A., he achieved specialized training in Transpersonal Psychology (ABPT) and later received his Ph.D. in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition to his role in making the film Conscious, Joseh composed the original soundtrack for the film drawing on his sensitivity, worldwide music influences, and training in Sound Healing.
