Benjamin Spiegel has been passionate about filmmaking since he picked up his first camera when he was less than one year old. He spent his childhood writing and directing short films, which led him to attend Columbia College Hollywood, where he earned his BFA in Directing. Benjamin used his time in college to work on as many film shoots as possible, most notably for Disney, and developing an epic short film that later turned into his final thesis project.
The film, Guns Don’t Lie, is the largest production to date that Benjamin orchestrated. As the writer, director, and star of the film, it is a culmination of all of his filmmaking training and experience. Guns Don’t Lie is a modern day Comedy Western, that took a crew of 40, 1 month of filming, and 8 locations across Southern California (including the famous Bronson Canyon and Malibu State Park) to create. Benjamin oversaw the entire process and even had to do his own stunts!
Westerns are a great love of Benjamin’s, so creating this film was a dream come true for him. He is thrilled to share this film with the world. Benjamin plans to continue directing and developing future projects.
I have always been a huge fan of westerns, and wished more were made these days. It's a time in America's history that's so interesting because it was so epic and exciting but also so tragic. With this film I set out to bring back the fun excitement of a classic western but set in modern day.
I think with such hard times upon everyone in the world, we could all use an escape, and that's who Sam and Patrick are to me. They are that American spirit of adventure and escapism, the real world will always beat them down, but you have to take the good with the bad.
So I really hope you enjoy my film. I hope it can bring laughter and joy to your spirit, and inspire you to dream big.
