Turf Wars
Turf Wars, a film by David Grannis
In 2015, NASA predicted California was facing a Mega drought. The year before California Governor Jerry Brown enacted a water conservation executive order requiring a 25% cut in water consumption. These cuts would be achieved by replacing 50 million square feet of lawn with drought tolerant landscaping. Schools, golf courses, parks and residents needed to comply. This film looks at how this was achieved and examines southern California sources of water. The filmmakers also traveled to the Central valley to look at the relationship between agricultural and residential use of water.
