Director Biography - Michael Timothy Williams

MICHAEL T. WILLIAMS is a Brooklyn-based theatre artist - part director, performer, and educator.

This is his first film, made as part of a thesis assignment at the Devised Performance MFA program at UArts/Pig Iron Theatre Company.

He is co-founder of AntiGravity Theatre Project, as well as a creator with the company. With AntiGravity and solo Michael has worked with: La Mama ETC, Williamstown Theatre Festival, FringeArts, Pig Iron Theatre Company, MCC Theatre, Trinity Rep, The Winged Cranes Productions (Madrid), El Relo Productions (Madrid), Soho Rep, Blood from a Turnip, 95 Empire, Sleeping Weazel and in Arena Stage's Downstairs Series for New Work and Voices of Now Festival. He is the recipient of the Weston Award for Excellence in Directing for William Finn and James Lapine's A New Brain (2009, Brown University) and the Victims' Rights Award for his work with the RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence on Behind Closed Doors, an awareness play. In 2011, Michael was the Bob Alexander Community Engagement Fellow in the Allen Lee Hughes Fellowship Program at Arena Stage, where he taught, directed and devised new, ensemble-based work in the DC public schools. From 2011 to 2013, Michael served as the Education Outreach Coordinator at Trinity Repertory Company.
