Director Statement

As an animator and abstract painter I am fascinated with the recording and rapid transmission of gestures. I achieve this by assembling each individual frame of motion media as if it were a paint stroke contributing to a greater whole, as if painting with light. Concerning 600-60-6, this was an experiment in animated automatism. After first defining some rules: 600 frames (drawings), completed in 60 minutes (continuously in one sitting), using 6 colors, I then created squares rapidly and through automatic drawing methods let the subconscious take over.
