I am a 19-year-old woman with a camera and hopes of using it professionally in Europe one day. I was born in Seattle, and I love horseback riding, ballroom dancing, photography, and airplanes. Film has been the door into sanity for me; I often feel that it is what I live for because in the moments I have a camera in my hands, I feel as if I am finally alive. I lost my faith (Mormonism) about 3 years ago, which is perhaps why I was drawn to London's story in the first place.
Setting out to create this short portrait film, I wanted to dispel stereotypes of both ex-Mormons and LGBTQ+ individuals by introducing my audience to a real person. Especially after coming to terms with my own faith and sexuality, I found not only an amazing subject but a friend in London Flynn who I could relate to through our similar experiences, and I hope that this piece can touch others who are struggling in similar situations.
