Maxime is the second-in-command aboard the Saint-Alour, a briton fishing trawler that leaves for two consecutive weeks during fishing season on the high sea. To the Deep Sea is about the desire to leave felt by this father of three, who likes loneliness at sea and the very particular lifestyle of a high-sea fisherman.

Pierre Bouquet is from Brittany, France. After completing an environmental law degree while practicing theatre, he decided to explore his interest in cinema by going to Belgium and enrolling in I.A.D. to train in filmaking. His main project, On Departure, is about a girl named Sophie who has to make a choice when she discovers that the one she loves wants to go to Syria for the djihad. To the Deep Sea, his graduation film, is a documentary about the crew of a fishing trawler that examines loneliness, work, and life in close-quarters on the high seas.
