Cham Paper the Documentary
In the city of Istanbul, there is a social group of young Syrians coming from Hassakeh, Aleppo, Lattakia, Damascus and other Syrian cities.
We have chosen our characters amongst them, from the age group between (20-30) years old.
Our aim of interviewing our characters, was to show the opinion differentiation amongst them about the ideas intended to be questioned in the film, and that, indeed, helped us to create the basic structure of the film, where all the characters are involved in art, from music to painting, some of them are still studying.
Our characters are people who are working hard, building thoughts and plans about the future, since all of them suddenly became on their own, away from support, trying to blind in the new society they now have to live in.
The characters are 5 young Syrians, and a Turkish young man, who had been in Syria in a student exchange program in the years 2008 and 2009, and he could feel the changes for Syrians regarding the aims and ambitions.
The film discusses various social aspects, in an attempt to show how these Syrian young people see this new society, projecting the similarities and differences with the society they originally came from.
The film shows the intellectual awareness, and the new ways of thinking our characters gained out of interacting with a new society.
Some of them considered Istanbul as a good place to live and settle in, others see it as a place they didn’t choose to live in, a temporary station on the way to their destination in life.
In the film, there are 6 street musician groups, playing in the streets of Istanbul, these scenes were used to show the beauty of the city of Istanbul, and to break the reporting manner used in typical documentaries.
The duration of the film is 21:41 minutes.

Detailed oriented, passionate and inventive creator of innovative marketing strategies.
After living in Istanbul for 1 month, having some communication problems due to the language barrier, and after living on the tempo of street music of Istanbul, the idea of the film was born, and made the director determinant to show this slice of the Syrian society, differently than how it’s done usually in typical reports, to show those who were absent from media.
