"Bringing it to the table", in 1995 she graduated from California Culinary Arts Academy, San francisco Claifornia and she has been a Chef for over 20 years!
""Bringing it to the table" is a new culinary competition and answers with a clap back surrounding some questions of "what it is to be a “Black Chef" and exposes food insecurities in urban communities by showcasing the lifestyle, talent, laughter and culture of African American Chefs, Foodies and experts.
"Bringing it to the table" Cooking Show was born after Chef Mimi noticing the lack of African American Chefs in Media. Chef Mimi states "Chefs who looked like me aren't getting the same Culinary Opportunities and often stereotyped in today’s media outlets."
Huffington Post "Asked in an article "Where are the Black Chefs?' and tackles some of the issues as to why the industry hasn't embraced Black Chefs and the personal historical barriers that many Black Chefs face. Chef Mimi states "Far too many times Black Chefs are held and assumed that we only cook Soulfood and BBQ, because of our ethnic backgrounds, “Soul Food is wonderful and we love it, however it isn’t the only cuisine that Black Chefs cook.
