I am Jane Doe

Janine Carter has grown up living in her stepsister’s shadow; they go to the same parties, they have the same friends. Janine has always suppressed her shy, bookish nature in order to please her sister. A few weeks after a harsh break up with her high school sweetheart, Maya convinces her heartbroken sister to come out to a Halloween party. Hoping that getting out of the house will cheer Janine up, the innocent night out ends up turning into her worst nightmare.

Left violated and alone, Janine draws deep into herself for the first time, trying to come to terms with the night’s events. Feeling as if she has nowhere to turn, she struggles not to blame herself in a society that seems uncomfortable and unwilling to listen.

Janine attempts to continue on with her normal day-to-day life, but finds it extremely difficult to heal the wounds that have been inflicted on her.
