Director Biography - Nicolas Mongin

NICOLAS MONGIN funded the creative and production studio LES MONSTRES in 2010.
After graduating from the Arts Décoratifs of Paris in 2000, Nicolas integrated No Good Industries agency as a graphic designer. In 2004, he managed the artistic direction of videos for Evian Affinity, Danone (Les deux vaches), J&B, Discovery Channel, Virgin (Depeche Mode, Yann Tiersen, Moby, etc.).
In 2009, he directed a unitary programme called « Doom Doom », produced by Canal Plus and La Parisienne d’Images.
In 2010, he funded his own production company, Les Monstres.
Nicolas Mongin conceived his studio Les Monstres as an efficient directing tool: the studio manages all the production steps of any films, using live shots or animations (2D, 3D, stop motion, motion design, rotoscopy and more). The studio manages the artistic direction, storyboard, design, direction, post-production and delivery. In times of reigning animation, the full directive progress of a film must be closely followed through its every
step in order to uphold the original vision of its authors. For each project, Nicolas Mongin gathers a permanent dedicated team of graphic and animation artists, stage designers, chief operators, editors, etc. His mission as a talent organizer is at the core his directive job.
Since October 2015, Les Monstres studio has specialized in the production of animation, most notably thanks to
their collaboration with the series Les Grands Mythes, broadcasted on Arte France in 2016.

Director Statement

A journey through the rise and fall of two young people. From a passionate encounter to their struggle.
Metal and nature are confronted. A kiss of death.
The red warm embrace before the cold chaos of a car crash in a profound forest.
The stabbing pace feels like a restless pulse. Guitar and Drums blend, conflate or ward off following the characters’ feverish heart beats.
La Jungle, duo with six strings and four barrels in deep trance. Large primitive pulsions and sweaty dancing around a huge fire in the middle of the jungle. Two wild savages mix their debacles with few violent ostinatos. Throbbing shamans voices and overlap guitar riffs are supported by a wild and oozing drum.
