In 1974, Athalia Ponsell Lindsley, a former actress and Powers model and the wife of the former mayor, was cut down with a machete on the front steps of her Marine Street mansion in St. Augustine. The case is unsolved to this day, and a subject of intense interest to modern sleuths.
