Director Biography - Teresa Bonner

Teresa Bonner has mentored creative teams, created award-winning book designs, tutored low-literacy adults, and advised nonprofit directors, and developed marketing strategies for a variety of clients.

As a Peace Corps volunteer in Lithuania (1996-98) she assisted organizations and individuals as they made the transition from a controlled to a free-market system. Based on this experience, she wrote a course focused on portfolio development, client relationships and self-promotion for designers and artists and taught at the Vilnius Art Academy, and then at the Prague Art Academy.

In 2014, she provided marketing advice to Westchester’s Ridge Hill, and then helped launch an arts initiative, the Ridge Hill Arts Program. Connections (a mural by Kindo Harper) is the first installment in the arts program. Teresa decided to create a video, documenting the process of turning a blank wall into a visual story, and provide a video for two talented and adventurous young artists. It was also a great opportunity to learn hands-on about filmmaking.

The video, Connections: A Mural is her first documentary and Connections Mural: Boat, Waves, Halfmoon is an offshoot.

Director Statement

Often creative projects are put to the side, not prioritized, or not supported. A video of the creative process is a contribution to keeping the arts on the radar, or even at the forefront. Let’s transform more blank walls into beautiful, visual stories.
