In-Between
“What happens in the last few minutes of brain activity after someone dies?” The inspiration for this short film derives directly from that statement. The film itself is about a young man who has awoken, after he has died, in a life center. Wyatt, our young man, struggles with the fact that he has passed; he is stuck in this purgatory, set in a life center, until he reaches his evaluation day. Along the way, Wyatt meets an unlikely friend, Petey, who helps Wyatt come to terms with his early passing and find the beauty in life even when it has been lost.

I was reared and educated in Mobile, Alabama. In 2017, I graduated from Spring Hill College with a B.A. degree in Communication Arts with a concentration in Digital Video Production. I have a deep passion for acting and directing.
During my college career, I participated in various campus activities involving film and theater. I served as the producer of the campus cable access channel where I scheduled the programing and found content to air. I directed the 2016 Give Day video for the Spring Hill College fundraiser and directed the variety show, Badger Block, which aired on the cable access channel. I also acted in many of the shows within Badger Block, as well as played the creature in Mary Shelley's, Frankenstein.
The inspiration for this film came to me shortly after the passing of a friend. Her unexpected death made me question everything. Subsequently, I contacted my cousin, Caleb, who had also lost a friend. We decided to share our feelings through writing a script to commemorate both of their lives. Thus the start of this short film, "In-Between", which was shot with three other friends in four days on a $500 budget. Looking past the obstacles we overcame to create this piece, I wanted to convey the message that life is not about how you came into this world or how you leave it, but it is about the in-between. All the lives you touch and all the happiness you spread is what matters. Just like Maddy and Connor did during the time that they were here with us.
