Remarkable
Elise is a dreamer with ambition, and supported by her best friend Mark, overcomes each of the challenges of growing up as an outcast. She is drawn to math, physics, and a love of the stars – when she sets her sights on applying to Cal-Tech, and the NASA space program, can she move beyond the trappings of being an outcast Australian girl, to become the mission specialist she’s always dreamed of being? Who can tell? Certainly not Mark – plus it’s pretty hard for him to explain… seeing as he is a whiteboard.

As someone who has been regularly described as 'thinking on a tangent', I found my soul in film making.
I began creating 'ye olde moving pictures' a little over a year ago, when I began (and recently completed) a Diploma in Screen & Media from the New York Film Academy, Gold Coast. It was a crazy, wonderful experience - as I worked on over 50 short films and clips in that time.
The course was like a boot camp, and for me, more like a crucible, burning away my doubts to follow a strange and weird idea of a sentient whiteboard, who shared his heart.
This was the culmination of six months of intensive work, from finessing the script, to almost two months of casting and another three of production, all while being first Assistant Director on five other films in as many weeks. I invested my heart into this project, and to see a little piece of myself come to life has been one of the most satisfying moments of my existence.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider 'Remarkable' - I hope you become immersed in Marks sense of humanity, and Elises steadfast determination.
At first, the idea of a narrative from the point of view of a whiteboard seemed rather far-fetched to my lecturers. However, as I went into depth about the story he was telling, the dramatic progression of a young woman, so held back by he circumstances, the understanding began to take hold.
With the recent releases of feature films like 'Hidden Figures' and 'Wonder Woman', the vision of women succeeding in their respective industries and passions is becoming more and more accepted as 'mainstream'. If I can contribute in even the smallest measure to that end, I will.
I wanted to tell a vision of hope, coming from a darker place. Though we may be struggling in life, and believe that we can only rely on ourselves to pull us through, a message of hope can be found, if we only raise our eyes to see it.
