ISOLATION is my debut feature film. the conditions are well prepared that help the audience to reach an identification and become thirsty to save the leading actor and his children from such crisis. Once the audience puts himself in the place of the leading character, it’s the time that the relives emerge out.
ISOLATION is a social movie and narrates a specific story. Clearly, ISOLATION is a scroll about the peoples’ judgments. The movie begins with the death of Zohreh, based on which the basic core and principle of the film is set up to the extent that the exclusion of this sequence would make it meaningless, so there would be no story, since the entire events are interconnected as a chain.
The movie seems to be an obscure and sorrowful, however, its deep layers either makes the audience to feel sorry and regretful and experience hopefulness and happiness. Therefore, they may smile in the darkness of the theater hall.
What has always been a concern to me is the depiction of judgment. When l was writing the script and directing the movie, I committed myself that “ISOLATION may stimulate the emotions of the audience without getting trapped in the sentimentalism, so it is supposed to be a social work by the end.”
Every single sequence of the films is about judgment. The characters keep judging each other. So does the audience. Of course, it is the landscape of all human beings, the daily and momentary judgments.
There is a third person and God view point narration. The audience would be wherever the camera is set. I’ve tried not to turn the camera side to side unintentionally, not to cry out a slogan, and keep being as an unbiased witness in order not to judge anyone. I try my best not to look for the common clichés purifying the suspected woman, however, I take the use of mutual actions between the characters in order to develop the story. There are a lot of characters and locations in ISOLATION, so that each atmosphere with its individual potentiality would represent a part of our today and future society.
I intended to make a heroic movie, full of suspension that make the audience involved from the very beginning up to the final part, even up to the end of title sequence. Isolation is a feminine movie that helps to understand a woman and a mother in society. All the characters claim their generosity, however, it is Zohre who lives manly and we all regret her absence up to the end of movie. I believe that women are more vulnerable and impressive in society, but we have forgotten it or we intend to forget it. I still suffer from her look before the accident, the look that tells us: you are the murderer with your judgments. There has always been single abandoned and neglected women in the society, it may also turn to a major crisis. the woman like Zohre, like our mothers are the creator of our future and the validity of the human beings.
