STRANIERO

An Italian mother and son arrive in Australia, hoping to establish a new life. Upon starting at school, The Son experiences bullying, which leads to being beaten up because of a difference in his physical appearance relating to his webbed feet. The Mother tries to comfort her son, however, he is unable to cope with his sense of dislocation, deciding to try and amend the issue himself; he resorts to cutting the webb of his feet as a way of reaching normality and fitting in, but this inadvertently causes him to bleed out and die. Distraught and angered, The Mother turns against society, placing a curse on the land and its people, which she blames for the death of her son.
