By taking away a person's imagination...You're guilty of murdering their creativity.
Maya started out with a friend who told me that she doesn’t have any friends only imaginary ones, jokingly I asked, “So what am I?” Everyone in his life has had some kind of imaginary friend and as they grew older they lost their imagination and thus losing their imaginary friend, but what if you could keep your friend. In the eyes of the viewers in the eyes of the people in the movie, Maya is imaginary but we all know that Maya is real. The imagination of a 12 year old lead to her being accused of lying by her own mother when in fact she was speaking the truth.
The themes in this script clearly are drama, mystery and thriller and so I believe that this kind of script needs to be portrayed into a visual image like ‘Shutter Island’. Something that the audience would think they have concluded the story only to keep them eager to watch because we would create suspense.
My vision for ‘Maya’ is to represent her as a ghost. No one will know she really exists until the very end. The kind of shots that I intend on using are simple shots yet with the right editing would make interesting scenarios. For example, going from a long shot of two people to a mid-shot on one of them and back to a long shot, with only one person disappears. This will bring out the viewer’s judgement that she might be a ghost. My vision for the music is to have a joyful soundtrack which will represent the youth. However it will get into a dissonant music when the doctor is seen. Musical themes could be created for the characters. The colours I intend to use reflect on the mood of the scene. For example bright vibrant colours for the youth and blue dark colours for the doctor scene.
