Alberto Carlos Peart, started his career in acting and dancing at age 15. He was awarded Best Male Actor for the Western Massachusetts Theater Association in 2002 and was reviewed as, “...striking,” by the New York Times in 2008. Always interested in film, he and his friends would write and film video shorts for fun. While attending Westfield State University, he majored in mass communications with a focus in media arts. There is where he started to discover his love and passion for video production and editing. In 2008 he moved to Los Angeles for acting, but being behind the camera is where his interest lied. In 2011 he moved to Madrid, Spain and focused on video production. There, he filmed and edited various dance and video shorts. In 2014, he moved back to the US and started a small video production service in the Pioneer Valley. Alberto continues to write, direct, and produce videos with various artists and works to build truth and self- perspective through digital media and video production.
This is a project that was written as a student film while I was attending Westfield State University in 2007. At the time, I had friends and family members that had been on tour and served in the Iraq War. I listened to stories of loved ones and strangers about the trauma they had experienced while serving, as well as the horrors they faced when they returned home. I wrote and directed a piece about a young man that was suffering from PTSD and was struggling to overcome his troubled past and looking to find hope and peace in what seems to be a never-ending nightmare.
In 2015, one of our producers Kelly Miffitt, Javier and I decided to re-visit the student film and revamp the story to more recent events. We focused on the unsaid thoughts, feelings, and scars that were left untold. Our purpose for this film is raise PTSD awareness, but also let those who are suffering from PTSD know that they are not alone. This is a film for those that are lost, who have an untold story, and who want some kind of resolution. We wanted to make this project seem like a dream, a never-ending nightmare that keeps recycling. But we can overcome that nightmare and turn it into a beautiful beginning.
