About the Writer.
In 2006, documentary filmmaker Sergio Colastra was
kidnapped by Colombian guerrillas in Panama while
promoting his film 'Jaibaná,' which highlighted the
Guna and Embená aboriginal nations. Having grown
up in Equatorial Guinea, he was familiar with the
jungle. However, being held captive alongside his
father, with whom he had a complicated relationship,
was a transformative experience that reshaped his
perspective on the jungle and the delicate balance
between human fragility and the overwhelming power
of nature. Today, this experience defines him as an
author, bringing a unique vision that sheds light on the
intricate relationship between humans and their
environment.
