Garrett is a student filmmaker from Lansing, Michigan. Ever since he started filming war stories in his backyard with his friends and his dad's camcorder, Garrett has wanted to make movies. Through high school, Garrett worked on several projects with Director of Photography Jacob McDowell. He is currently pursuing his love for cinema's poetic and rhetorical power as a student at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI.
Peak is a coming-of-age story involving first-year College students who secretly yearn for the simplicity of their life in high school, when the world seemed smaller, the possibilities more endless, and relationships more genuine. It's a reflection on which sorts of memories and accomplishments matter most. This short is by far the largest I, or the cast and crew, for that matter, have taken part in. Filmed on a low budget and even tighter schedule, Peak is a student film in its most genuine sense, and the project has been as much a learning experience for me and our wonderful team as the story is for the characters.
