Director Statement

As artists, we create art when we feel most vulnerable. Creating 'Ophelia' was a part of my grieving process after I lost my cousin of the same name. Ophelia and I had a very strong bond; we both had to fight for our lives - Ophelia was born with a heart defect and I had to fight cancer at a very early age. We both empowered and pushed each other at times when we felt at our lowest. Unfortunately, Ophelia passed away due to heart insufficiency leaving me behind to fight my battles all by myself. I had nothing left of her. I knew I wanted a better way to remember, and that is when I knew I have to create a piece dedicated to her loving memory.
