Director Biography - Julia Armine

Julia Balayan is an award-winning director, producer, and editor.

Julia was born and raised in Armenia. She moved to the U.S. in 2010 in pursuit of better and safe future. The same year Julia was diagnosed with stage three Lymphoma cancer. Julia was horrified and devastated. With how terrible the medical system was, Julia figured it was either fear cancer or the system. After going through such a tough, but life changing experience, Julia had a second chance at life and decided to pursue her true passion, filmmaking.

When Julia entered college to study Film – and discovered the boundless creative opportunities Film and Television production offers – her love for TV & Film became her passion as well. The energy on the set with the fast-paced nature of the workflow attracted Julia from the beginning. Being a multitasker enabled Julia to both supervise and participate in the production.

Currently, Julia is pursuing her B.A. in Film at California State University, Los Angeles, where she also works for the Student Production Unit as a Media Coordinator. In this position, she organizes digital media according to its content. Furthermore, Julia works as a student assistant for the Department of Television, Film & Media Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. As a student assistant, Julia assists students with video and audio editing and checks out camera equipment.

In 2017, Julia was one of 48 students to be chosen from a total of 24 schools and programs across the country and Canada to be part of the 2017 NAB Sony Student Internship Experience. There she received pre-show training on Sony broadcast production and made product presentations to attendees of NAB.
