Jack Sullivan is a filmmaker, playwright, and poet based in New York City. His short film FOR TONIGHT premiered at the Katra Film Series, Spring 2017 edition. Some of his poetry can be found in IN PARENTHESES, ILLYA'S HONEY, and YES POETRY. Currently he is studying to receive his M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College.
This piece originally started as a devised movement theater piece created with trainees for Anne Bogart's SITI company. I was interested in exploring what i thought to be underlying subtext of Macbeth: namely, the passion and desperation of young love, and what happens when nothing of that love comes to fruition (or dies.) The idea of doing the entire thing in remixed Shakespearian verse was just an aesthetic indulgence -- I wanted to challenge myself to do something weird and wonky. This leans on the more experimental side of things, but I hope you enjoy it.
