Director Biography

Donegal-based band, The Plea, were formed when brothers Denny and Dermot Doherty formed a fledgling band in their early teens, performing original songs and covers, all the while moving from Ballyliffin to London to Boston. Eventually, after spending a year recording an album (that would never make it to the masses) they returned to Ballyliffin. This subsequent return would result in the formation of The Plea itself with the additions of drummer Gerry Strawbridge and bassist Paul Toland. Initially posting original material to MySpace, the band eventually signed to Apollo Records. It was with the aid of this Indie label that they produced their debut album, collaborating with Chris Potter who had worked with the likes of U2, Blur, The Verve, and The Rolling Stones.

Their latest release, ‘Wild One’, lands on the 28th of July and will be the first release off their upcoming album Propanoia which will be released itself in the autumn of 2018. The track itself draws on pure, raw emotions using a ballad-esque style to convey memories from a tortured soul. Overflowing with melancholia, there’s a stripped back essence to this track that one can only hope to see in their album. The band wrote the track during a late-night acoustic session in Donegal and went on to record it on the spot that night.

The band are going native for this single, with the music video being shot in their hometown of Ballyliffin in Co. Donegal, drawing upon the inspiration of its renowned and breath-taking scenery. Pollan Beach in Ballyliffin and Lagahurry Beach on the Isle of Doagh served as the locations, and lead singer Denny Doherty features, intercut with shots of windswept waves, salt spray and sandy dunes.
