THE STORY
Nick J. Webb is the songwriter, producer and creative force behind musical duo ‘Skylark and the Scorpion’ alongside vocalist Petra Jean Phillipson. Having completed their debut record 'Weather The Storm', Nick invited internationally acclaimed photographer Finlay Mackay to direct a film to accompany the music featuring both band members. Returning to the remote island on which Mackay was born, the result is a stunning visual album set against the dramatic and Jurassic aspect of Shetland in winter.
"Cool, ethereal, innovative, strange, beautiful. Like a magical dream..." STEVE COOGAN
"From the conception of this simple idea, through capture and edit this is a quiet masterpiece. It's what you would wish for in the best modern opera or ballet. It leaves just enough space for you to create your own personal story whilst carrying you with a perfect blend of music and cinematography to another more poetic world." HENRY NORMAL
"In an age where the art of the album and attention spans are compromised, this film forces us to listen from start to finish. It is a total thing of beauty". NADINE SHAH
"A musical odyssey beautifully filmed against a breathtaking jurassic coastline." PAUL KELLY Heavenly Films

Finlay Mackay enjoys the fact that he is hard to define. Since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art back in the 1990s, he has become one of the most prolific, ambitious and versatile image-makers of his generation across commercial, editorial and documentary work.
Equally at home choreographing a big commercial set as he is travelling around Pakistan with Imran Khan, he has revelled in adapting his work as the industry has changed although his stylistic swagger has remained constant. He has won several awards, including three Cannes Lions, and still makes time for personal projects too.
Fin’s clients include Nike, Carlsberg, Lavazza, The New York Times Magazine, Vivienne Westwood, Apple, Time Magazine, Vanity Fair, Johnnie Walker, Bloomsberg Businessweek Magazine, Harrods and US Vogue.
His work was exhibited in The National Portrait Gallery Road in 2012, Stories Behind the Olympic Games.
More recently Finlay has directed his debut short film 'Weather The Storm', in which he travelled back to his birthplace Shetland to create a stunning visual album performed and soundtracked by 'Skylark and the Scorpion' - described by Steve Coogan as "Cool, ethereal, innovative, strange, beautiful. Like a magical dream...".
